Socks.
I think it's cool to have something to wear that you knitted or crocheted yourself, but I'm an odd size and I'm getting tired of scarves. Socks seemed a good idea, so I actually crocheted a pair a few years ago.
I was at a knitting and Stitching show one year at Ally Pally and found this really cool variegated sock yarn. I started to crochet socks with it and found that it was highly likely I wasn't going to have enough for a whole pair. Crochet takes up about three times more yarn than knitting does, so I decided to learn how to knit socks.
Knitting is a very slow process for me so this sock is taking ages to grow. Here's the last known photo of the sock. It's not much bigger now, but I have been spreading myself quite thin lately.

It's getting there ..... then you'll need to do the other one of the pair!!!
I knitted my first pair of socks in the summer -they are addictive!! That yarn is lovely, too.
Wow I am impressed - never attempted socks before and that wool looks fab!!
Beautiful! I'm counting on the fact that I've got tiny feet to get me finishing that first one!
